Fragrance information:

In 1979, Shiseido introduced Murasaki — a fragrance that's hard to forget. By character, a feminine fragrance drawing from the green and floral families. One of the scents from the Murasaki collection. The fragrance is presented as eau de parfum.

It carries a noticeable sillage, leaving a trail that lingers pleasantly in the air. The birthplace of this fragrance — Japan, a place with a refined nose. Murasaki Shiseido unfolds gradually, effortlessly, and with great refinement — a perfect choice for day or evening.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Murasaki is shaped as a layered story, where layers reveal themselves with precision and warmth. The signature of Shiseido is clear in the way notes appear and fade. No excess details, only what works, and the structure feels complete all the way through. Eau de parfum emphasizes the right density and pace of development.

The accord profile is driven by these accords: Citrus, Floral, Musc and Wood with each one in a clear role. Background accords such as Powdery and Leather expand the olfactory volume in the background. The profile is feminine, which makes the scent profile easier to read.

In the top tier you catch radiant lemon-bergamot top notes: Bergamot, Galbanum, Gardenia and Peach Blossom.

In the middle phase you detect Jasmine, Lily, Lily of the Valley, Rose and Violet root carrying a sensual jasmine direction.

At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Citrus, Green, Whiteflower and Floral. The framework further includes Leather, Earthy / Mossy, Wood and Musk.

Taken together Murasaki holds a coherent structure — the first stage creates momentum, the middle layer carries the identity, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. These are the fragrances best understood in wear.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Chanel No. 19 in a Japanese style. The scent is cold, but not in the sense of being fresh. Galbanum, violet, and musk - that's what I smell most. The bottle, by the way, is a story in itself, a real find. But overall, it didn't quite grab me
