7 Fragrances for Hot Summer: Freshness and Comfort
Summer puts perfume to the test. In the heat, even your favorite fragrance can sound different: some...
Hubert d'Ornano was not just the founder of the brand, but a true visionary whose life was devoted to beauty in its most exquisite form. Born in 1926 into a family with a rich history (his ancestor was a Napoleonic marshal), he absorbed the spirit of aristocracy and entrepreneurship from a young age. While studying law at the Sorbonne, however, he found his true calling in the world of aesthetics, laying the foundations for a future empire together with his father and brother by creating the Jean d'Albret-Orlane company.
A real revolution happened in 1976 when Hubert and his muse, his wife Isabelle, founded Sisley. Named after the impressionist painter, the brand embodied the philosophy of "cosmetics as art" from the very beginning, where the science of medicinal plants met impeccable taste. The d'Ornano family themselves became the creative directors of all future fragrances, which forever defined the unique style of the house—refined, profound, and artistic.
The Sisley perfume collection is a gallery of scents curated by Hubert's refined taste. The debut and already iconic work was Eau de Campagne, green like freshly cut grass, inspired by the family estate. But the true symbol of the brand and bestseller for decades has been the chypre Eau du Soir — originally Isabelle's personal fragrance, which has become a perfume classic. Other masterpieces were also created under his leadership: the mysterious Soir de Lune, the sunny Eau Tropicale, the delicate rose Izia, and the refreshing Eau d'Ikar.
Hubert d'Ornano's style is uncompromising elegance. He believed that perfumes should be as complex as a work of art and as pure as nature itself. His fragrances are often built on contrasts: the freshness of greenery with the warmth of flowers, the transparency of citrus with the depth of ambergris. Special attention was paid to the bottles, which were created based on sketches by artist Bronisław Krzysztof, turning each fragrance into a collector's item.
Hubert d'Ornano passed away in 2015, leaving behind not just a brand, but a living legend. His main legacy is his dedication to family and quality. Today, Sisley continues to grow under the leadership of his wife Isabelle and their children, Philippe and Christine, preserving the same spirit of aristocracy and love of beauty that inspired its founder. For true perfume connoisseurs, his name will forever remain synonymous with impeccable taste and the art of living beautifully.
