The art of perfume marketing: how fragrance is sold

The world first encountered Paris Tanger by Carven in 2019. A masculine fragrance rooted in the wood family. The author of this composition is Takasago, and that explains a lot. By character, it falls into the spicy, wood, and citrus groups. A fragrance from the The collection, in eau de parfum.
It carries a noticeable sillage, leaving a trail that lingers pleasantly in the air. Recommended dosage: 2-3 sprays on skin, 1-2 sprays on clothing. A couple of sprays will carry you through the whole day — longevity is firmly high. Brand country — France: a place that truly knows its way around a great scent. Paris Tanger Carven — the choice of those who appreciate depth and character in every detail.
The fragrance is highly persistent and lasts on the skin for up to 8–10 hours, gradually revealing its notes and allowing you to enjoy the full bouquet throughout the day
The scent is clearly present near you, but it does not fill the entire space
The perfume has a rich aroma that will help you stand out from the crowd and create a memorable image
A rich and elegant fragrance that gently unfolds on the skin and lasts most of the day, leaving a delicate trail
Perfumes for the fall and winter seasons often contain notes of vanilla, spices, ambergris, wood, and other warm accords, creating a feeling of comfort and warmth during the cold months
The note pyramid of Paris Tanger is built as a living composition, where notes flow with precision and warmth. The creative approach of Carven comes through in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. Nothing here feels random, and the composition keeps a clear direction. Eau de parfum keeps the depth and body this composition needs.
The internal accord map is built around these accords: Citrus, Wood and Spicy without random overlap. The stylistic positioning is masculine, which clarifies the composition character. For persistence High points to a sustained drydown presence. In projection Noticeable describes the way the scent radiates.
When the pyramid is blended into one block the opening appears as one connected movement with a noble cedar mood: Cardamom, Cedar, Cypress, Elemi, Grapefruit, Guaiac wood and Light woods.
The middle and base stages are felt as a continuous motion from lift to depth, which keeps the fragrance coherent.
At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Citrus, Spicy, Wood and Balsamic.
Taken together Paris Tanger sounds complete from start to finish — the opening sets direction, the central phase adds depth, and the base secures the trail. This is the type of composition best judged on skin.

The Tanger fragrance is a perfect example of a fresh men's perfume. Everything in it is in its place, especially when it comes to the masculinity that marketers impose on us. The main accord here is a bright and clean tangerine with grapefruit, which refreshes the skin like salty splashes of warm water. There's a lot of light and air in this scent, as if you're on the coast of Gibraltar, enjoying the Mediterranean air and freshness.
The aquatic accord is one of the key ones; it's not like in traditional men's fragrances. The base consists of a damp, green violet leaf scent, complemented by a woody-balsamic accord. The woody note, based on rare Moroccan cypress, gives the fragrance a special depth. Although I'm not familiar with the smell of this material, guaiac, combined with salty freshness and a slight sharpness of amber, sounds simply amazing.
Tanger stands out for its elegance and politeness. The quality of the composition is impressive, and I am sincerely grateful to Carven for not offering us another stereotypical fougère, as often happens in stores 🌊
