Paris - Venise: A Journey Between Two Cities

Imagine a fragrance that embodies the duo of Paris and Venice — that is exactly what Chanel Paris - Venise, released in 2018, is all about.

This versatile perfume, created as part of the Les Eaux de Chanel collection, invites you on a bright and airy journey where elegance meets romance.

Founded by the legendary Gabrielle Chanel, this French House has always been renowned for its ability to combine simplicity with refinement, and Paris - Venise is a vivid testament to that.

Scent Development on the Skin

From the first seconds, you are greeted with an explosion of fresh citrus notes, such as bergamot and lemon, which smoothly transition into a floral heart with rose and iris.

On the base, the fragrance gains warm overtones thanks to vanilla and tonka beans, creating a delicate and long-lasting impression.

This development makes it ideal for those who appreciate dynamics and depth in perfumery.

Positioning and Application Practice

Positioned as unisex, Paris - Venise is suitable for everyone looking for a light yet expressive fragrance.

Its concentration — eau de toilette — provides freshness, and a medium sillage leaves a delicate trail.

For optimal effect, it is recommended to spray 2 to 3 times on the skin and 2 to 3 times on clothing, making it ideal for spring and summer days, dates, or office meetings.

Authorship and Influence

Behind the creation of this masterpiece is the famous perfumer Olivier Polge, who masterfully wove notes from the citrus and floral groups into the composition.

His work reinforces Chanel's reputation as an innovator, offering modern interpretations of classic elegance.

The fragrance reflects the brand's DNA, combining lightness and complexity, making it an important element in the Les Eaux de Chanel line.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Paris - Venise begins with a bright explosion of citrus: bergamot, lemon, orange, petitgrain and spicy pink pepper create a refreshing start.

In the heart of the composition, delicate floral chords unfold: geranium, iris, neroli, rose and exotic ylang-ylang add depth.

The base envelops with warm and sensual notes: benzoin, tonka bean, vanilla, violet and musk complete the composition, leaving a soft and memorable trail.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The fragrance is simply terrible, there's no beauty in it. It's something that reminds me of old times when our mothers used something similar. No freshness, just heaviness and oppression. It doesn't evoke any pleasant emotions, but rather, on the contrary, creates a sense of timelessness. For me, it's not a floral, not a citrus, and not a sweet scent, but simply something that weighs on the mind. I don't smell vanilla or patchouli, and thank goodness, because that would be even worse. It sounds somewhat flat and unexpressive, the longevity isn't pleasing either. In the morning, taking a shower, I tried to catch something, but only the powdery base left an unpleasant residue. There are no oriental notes there, and thank goodness, but individual accords aren't audible either, everything blends into one. The opening is similar to many other fragrances, the top notes seem too familiar, but that's a deception. Further on, everything gets even worse, don't rush to conclusions. In general, I didn't fall in love with this fragrance, but rather was disappointed. It absolutely doesn't suit modernity, nor the vintage I own. This is not the fragrance that should bear the name Chanel 😒

A scent that evokes mixed feelings. On one hand, it truly conveys femininity, but on the other, there's something strange about this freshness. Spring flowers, yes, but it's not that simple. I imagine someone in a light dress walking through a park, hair blowing in the wind, but then there's this fragrance. It's as if it's trying to say something important, but not entirely. Tenderness and sophistication are certainly present, but a sense of slight mystery lingers. I don't know if I like it or not

This fragrance is simply unbearable for me. It reminds me of something old, as if I'm back in childhood when my mom wore clothes soaked in perfumes and cosmetics she no longer liked. Feminine, yes, but that doesn't save it. It doesn't fit with how I feel now and only causes repulsion 😒

The fragrance is simply gorgeous and very feminine. The light floral powder here is truly airy, which is important for me, as not every 'powder' suits me. For a cologne, the longevity is excellent, the sillage is noticeable, although it quickly becomes closer to the skin. Overall, the fragrance is soft, balanced, and well-made. Elegance in every note

Oriental fragrances no longer surprise anyone today. Italian Acqua di Parma and English Jo Malone have long presented their versions. Now Chanel has also released its fragrance. Paris-Venise is not a sweet vanilla cologne. In its citrus-floral base, pink pepper adds woody and balsamic notes with benzoin and tonka beans. Powdery accents of ylang-ylang and the freshness of rose petals give it lightness. The citrus note is not so pronounced, neroli is almost imperceptible, and the bitterness of bergamot and petitgrain is barely noticeable. The musk accord, as in the previous fragrance, plays an important role, smoothing and softening all elements of the composition. Olivier Polge created a calm and light fragrance that is well-balanced, but with a lipstick-cosmetic nuance that gives it elegance. Paris-Venise resembles the first rays of dawn gently touching the oriental patterns of Venetian buildings. Their velvety warmth opposes the cold night, but in this struggle, no one wins!! The vanilla-balsamic sweetness does not unfold, does not take flight, but freezes at the beginning of a new day, preserving the mistiness and coolness of citrus in dew drops

Honestly, this fragrance only causes me bewilderment. How can it smell so bad? For me, it reminds me of some silly youth memories that would be better forgotten. No passion, just nostalgia for something long past. I don't understand how anyone can wear this

The composition is simply stunning, it sounds a hundred percent. The fragrance is truly classy and intelligent. At first, bright citruses are felt, so fresh and playful, and then I think I hear echoes of something familiar, perhaps it's ylang-ylang having that effect. In the end, towards the base, the fragrance becomes more velvety and slightly sweet

the citrus notes in this fragrance are not as pronounced as in other variations from this line. they are framed by the tenderness of red berries and geranium, which gives them softness. the warmth of vanilla and oriental incense perfectly complements this composition. a delicate veil of iris powder finishes everything. this fragrance is ideal for warm evenings after a hot day. it's very feminine, soft, and long-lasting - there's no sillage, but it stays wonderfully on the skin

Oriental fragrances no longer surprise. Brands like Jo Malone and Acqua di Parma have long presented them. Now Chanel has also released its interpretation. Paris-Venise is not a sweet vanilla cologne, but rather a citrus-floral composition where pink pepper adds woody and balsamic notes with benzoin and tonka beans. The airiness of the hedione note is emphasized by powdery accents and the freshness of rose petals. The citrus part is not so brightly expressed, neroli is almost not soapy, and the bitterness in bergamot and petitgrain is barely perceptible. The musk accord, as in the previous fragrance, plays an important role, appearing from the first seconds and smoothing all notes. Olivier Polge created a light and balanced fragrance with a lipstick-cosmetic nuance that gives the floral composition elegance. Paris-Venise resembles the first rays of dawn touching the oriental patterns of Venetian buildings. Their velvety warmth opposes the coolness of the fading night, but in this struggle, no one wins: the vanilla-balsamic sweetness does not intensify, but freezes at the moment of a new day, preserving the mistiness and freshness of citrus in dew drops 🌅

The fragrance from the "Les Eaux de Chanel" collection turned out to be the warmest, but, alas, it lacks originality. Vanilla and resins create a pleasant sound, but nothing new. We've heard this many times before. I can't say it's outright shoddy work, but it gives the impression that the entire collection was released just to profit from brand fans. In the end, the fragrance is just a pass-through )

How strange that the whole collection is filled with citrus, yet each one is so different. Each fragrance seems to tell its own story, and their moods are completely distinct. Venice, for me, is the epitome of refined femininity, like in the good old days. There are many flowers here, they are delicate and sweetish, and the powdery accent evokes nostalgia for childhood, when everything seemed simpler and brighter

Powdery flowers without sweetness, wild fruits, and musk that almost merges with the skin. This fragrance reminds me of a light silk blouse in a delicate creamy shade. It smells expensive, and you can confidently travel to Paris or Venice with it

This fragrance is a real gem, it evokes memories of what won't return… The opening is simply explosive - as if you step into the world of ancient queens, like Cleopatra or Anck-Su-Namun. Golden shimmer, deep black eyes, a sound like metal, and a feeling of power, like a dagger beneath light fabrics… ✨

I received three samples from this collection as a gift from Tatyana. Overall, they're all pretty good, but there's something common in their character: initial notes of soft citrus that don't sting the nose, and, of course, the Chanel style. For some reason, they remind me of my mom's youth. She had something similar, but I can't remember what exactly. I'll have to ask her, maybe she can tell me. The "water" scent is very elegant, nothing superfluous. It suits a teacher, an office lady, and for going out too. In short, it's versatile, stylish, and noble. It starts with oranges, light spicy notes, bergamot and lemon aren't as noticeable, and then powder appears. It's good that geranium and tonka beans don't steal the show (usually they seem too sweet to me) And yes, there's an echo of Chanel No. 5 L'Eau and something from Jersey

This fragrance, seemingly expensive and multifaceted, is actually just pleasant, like a light breeze. However, when I caught its sillage from another person, bitterness enveloped me. There's something in it that makes you ponder how quickly beauty fades. It's not a masculine scent, but there's something in it that leaves a heavy aftertaste. How difficult it is to realize that even the most pleasant moments can turn into melancholy!!
