Perfume information

Description of the composition

The composition of Iris Poudre unfolds like a poetic journey, beginning with vibrant top notes of bergamot, orange, and spicy clove, enriched by palisander (rosewood) and exotic ylang-ylang.

As it evolves, the heart reveals a sparkling layer of aldehydes intertwined with lush florals like jasmine, lily, magnolia, rose, and violet.

The base settles into a warm, enduring embrace with the iconic iris note, supported by amber, sandalwood, tonka bean, vanilla, vetiver, and musk, creating a sophisticated dry-down that lingers beautifully.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Frederic Malle's Aldehydic Iris is something else! It's like the embodiment of all those cold blondes from movies who live in luxury and evoke antipathy in others with their character. This fragrance starts with sharp, soapy aldehydes that feel almost burning, and then smoothly transitions into a delicate iris accord, reminiscent of flour.

The addition of light cedar helps define boundaries, and vetiver and lily give it even more arrogance. And, of course, sharp amber notes that make everyone around envious. This perfume would have been at its peak 70 years ago, and in 70 years it will still be relevant. It deserves a place on the shelf, like a true work of art

This fragrance from Frederic Malle is a real mystery. A woman in a strict suit, but inside - a real storm of emotions. «Iris Poudre» is not just a perfume; it's one of the most interesting iris compositions I've ever encountered. Pierre Bourdon created something special, and although the structure seems classic, the result is something entirely new.

The fragrance combines iris, rose, ylang, jasmine, and aldehydes, but it's not just floral. It's a musky-aldehydic symphony that smells expensive and sophisticated. Icy aldehydes create a sparkling halo, and the powdery-musky accord adds depth. The rose here doesn't smell like a typical rose but merely adds freshness, and the jasmine with magnolia is reminiscent of expensive cosmetic products.

The iris doesn't appear oily or woody, and there's no powdery feel to it either. Musk provides a silky texture, and its lightness and elegance make it an ideal choice for those who appreciate purity and modernity in fragrances. This perfume will definitely suit those in high-ranking positions and who frequently attend business meetings. In short, if you're looking for something that will make you stand out from the crowd, then this fragrance is WOW

The iris fragrance is truly impressive, it's bright, yet it retains tenderness and femininity. It reveals itself particularly well at zero degrees, a slight positive temperature, or in cold weather. This fragrance has its own individuality, it definitely won't leave you indifferent 💖

I have this fragrance, and it's already quite tiresome for me, too heavy 😩

The fragrance, which seems beautiful and delicate, actually evokes conflicting feelings. The complexity of its components creates a certain unity, but this unity sometimes feels too intrusive. When you think of iris, it really comes to the forefront, but switch to musk, and it overshadows everything around. Vanilla? It appears, but not as a guest, but as a rival, ready to fight for attention.

Powder, seemingly delicate, but sometimes it feels like it just presses down rather than adding lightness. On me, the fragrance hardly changes, lasts long, but over time only softens, losing its initial brightness. It's close to the skin, but that's not always pleasant. No «clouds», just a personal and quiet presence.

Comparisons to a cashmere sweater or a mysterious stranger seem inappropriate. It's more like a memory that doesn't leave, but also doesn't bring joy. Like a Chinese poem, where irises flicker, but remain only a shadow, leaving no vivid emotions

The fragrance is indeed curious, but not too intrusive. It needs to be understood. Iris is clearly noticeable. It's unique here, Frederic Malle clearly poured his soul into creating this perfume 🌸

Silky petals, as if trembling, create an atmosphere of tenderness. Leaves resembling swords and beards on the flowers add interesting accents. The iris fragrance has many nuances: powdery notes, the freshness of carrots, the softness of suede, floral pollen, and a light rainy coolness. Iris Poudré slowly unfolds on the skin, as if taking a deep breath, and then aldehydes with powder immediately appear. And there's also violet, full of thoughtfulness and sadness; it beautifully complements the iris 🌸

The delicate and powdery iris is simply captivating. It has a slight vintage undertone that adds a special charm. Despite its airiness, this fragrance is surprisingly long-lasting and leaves a trail that can't help but attract attention

This powdery iris is certainly delicate, but it's not worth praising it so much. The musk, yes, is soft, but not as caressing as everyone says. Sillage? Well, I don't know, it's not impressive. I wear it when I go out, but I don't feel like a queen, rather like I smell of something strange. Too much fuss over nothing, honestly

This fragrance might make an impression on some, but for me, the iris was simply unbearable. It's oppressive, sharp, and too intrusive. The powder I smell reminds me of some old dust that gets in my nose and causes discomfort. On a cool and humid day, it completely revealed itself as a cheap men's cologne, which is not at all pleasing. I clearly have no luck with niche fragrances, and even less with iris ones. Whether it's boiled carrots or some terrible colognes - it's just a nightmare

The scent resembles skincare products more than perfume. It doesn't make a strong impression, smells quite subtle and harmonizes well with the natural skin scent. Perfect for daytime, especially in the office or at business meetings, when it's important not to overwhelm the atmosphere. It's a great choice if you don't want to distract others with your fragrance )

The powdery iris is truly beautiful, but its melancholic character might initially deter some. Detachment and sadness are felt in the fragrance, but it's precisely in early spring, when the temperature isn't above +5, that it unfolds especially magnificently

The scent is simply gorgeous, delicate, and very feminine. On the skin, it unfolds with powdery iris, combined with flowers, aldehydes, musk, and vanilla. The longevity is also pleasing, it lasts a long time 💖

This iris is simply a gem in my collection! It's sweetish and powdery, as promised, but not too light and not too heavy. It didn't suit me in the summer, it seemed too sweet. But in autumn, especially in the rain, I adore it! 🌧️

This fragrance is definitely not for me. I prefer something lighter and less intrusive, but this is the complete opposite. There's something unpleasant about it, even though I used to like it. But now I just can't stand it
