Description of the composition

The scent of Eau d’Orange Verte (1979) evolves as an expressive line of development, where accents shift without rush and without gaps. The creative approach of Hermès comes through in the way notes appear and fade. Nothing here feels random, and the structure feels complete all the way through. Eau de Cologne supports a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

From the first breath you meet sparkling citrus top notes: Lemon, Mandarin and Orange.

In the middle phase you detect Jasmine and Neroli carrying a sensual jasmine direction. In the final layer the structure settles through Patchouli, reinforcing a warm vetiver trail.

The olfactory framework is shaped by these accords: Citrus, Floral and Wood without random overlap. The stylistic positioning is unisex, which makes the scent profile easier to read. In wear duration Low suggests confident staying power.

At the note-group layer the profile is anchored in Citrus, Whiteflower, Floral and Wood. The framework further includes Earthy / Mossy and Green.

Taken together Eau d’Orange Verte (1979) holds a coherent structure — the start forms character, the middle layer carries the identity, while the drydown anchors the memory. These are the scent structures best judged through real development.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Low (1 to 2 hours)
2
Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth

The fragrance belongs to the fruity and fougère groups, which already sets a positive mood. It's light and sparkling, ideal for everyday use. Such a scent will highlight the style and taste of its owner, adding confidence with every step

I first experienced this scent when I took a small, beautifully packaged soap with me on a trip abroad. The smell made a strong impression on me: a bright and sharp green orange - such an invigorating citrus that fills you with energy and inspires new discoveries! It's perfect for the morning, it smells fresh and joyful!

Oh, how I adore it! I've felt this way from the very beginning, though, of course, not since its initial release. From our first meeting, when it had already been reissued, I knew it was something special. It's simply magnificent! Especially in summer, when I apply it to women's skin. In this version, it's so bright and vibrant! Citrus notes first, then a gorgeous bouquet of herbs - basil, oregano, and, of course, mint, which adds a sweet-cool nuance. And what's amazing: the scent stays close to the body, but this freshness, so herbaceous and charming, seems to extend beyond and delight those around me
