Hermès Rose Amazone: History and Identity

Released in 2014, Hermès Rose Amazone is a women's fragrance that embodies the elegance and freshness characteristic of Hermès.

This perfume is part of the Amazone collection, adding a mythical charm with references to strong and independent women, perfectly aligning with the brand's heritage that began with horse harnesses in 1837.

Since its release, Rose Amazone has become a favorite for those who appreciate a bright and cheerful character in perfumery.

As an eau de toilette, this fragrance offers a light and refreshing formula, ideal for daily wear.

Its lightly perceptible trail makes it an unobtrusive and sophisticated choice for warm seasons, especially spring and summer, when one wants to add lightness and femininity to their look.

Positioning and How to Wear

Hermès Rose Amazone is positioned as a women's fragrance, but its universal nature may also attract fans of unisex perfumery.

Thanks to the eau de toilette concentration, it applies easily and offers moderate longevity, recommending moderate spraying on the skin for better development.

On clothing, the scent may last longer, but due to the light trail, it's better to avoid excess.

If you liked Hermès Rose Amazone, you might also appreciate other fragrances with a similar character: Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay with its berry freshness, Zara Fruity for a budget-friendly alternative, and Tiziana Terenzi Halley with more intense notes.

More information can be found on the website.

Creator and Brand Influence

The author of this wonderful creation is the legendary perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, known for his minimalist and elegant approach.

His work on Rose Amazone emphasizes the philosophy of Hermès—striving for quality and artistic expression, strengthening the brand's reputation as a creator of exquisite and modern perfumes.

Hermès Rose Amazone belongs to the citrus, floral, and fruity families, creating a multifaceted composition with bright citruses, delicate flowers, and juicy fruits, which delights from the first impression to the final trail.

Description of the composition

Fragrance Composition

The note pyramid of Hermès Rose Amazone begins with an invigorating chord of top notes: bergamot, grapefruit, red currant, lemon, blackcurrant leaf and mandarin, creating an instant sensation of freshness and energy.

In the heart of the fragrance, floral notes, raspberry, rose and blackberry unfold, adding tenderness and fruity sweetness that softens the initial citrus burst.

The base notes — amber, vanilla and woody accord — provide warmth and depth, leaving a cozy and memorable trail on the skin.

This composition is masterfully balanced, offering a journey from bright freshness to a delicate floral heart and warm base, making each stage of wear unique and pleasant.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This fragrance is truly complex. I've been testing it for a week, and each time it unfolds differently. Sometimes I detect a tart rose, then a delicate garden rose, and sometimes even a leathery rose or rosy leather. But one thing I can say for sure: there's leather here, and it's very subtle, distinctly feminine. The fragrance is unique and smells natural. Interestingly, five citruses are listed in the pyramid, but they come across as some kind of Mediterranean greenery. Blackcurrant and berries are clearly noticeable, and all of this together creates the atmosphere of a blooming garden. Rose is present at all stages: first it's fresh, then it becomes richer, and against the background of leather notes (which are not listed in the pyramid), you understand why the label features a woman in an Amazon costume. Longevity on skin is 4-5 hours, on clothes - significantly longer. The sillage quickly becomes close to the skin, but you still catch whiffs of it from time to time. It's worth testing this fragrance before buying, because reviews are very mixed: some only smell rose, others don't detect it at all. But you absolutely must get acquainted with this fragrance - it's truly unique

This rose truly has a noble sound! But, honestly, not everyone might like it. It has character, so to speak. At first, citrus notes are felt on the skin, but then they give way to floral-tart notes with a slight sourness and green blackcurrant leaves. Berries are also present, everything somehow intertwines. Amber accords, wood, suede or something like that, and raspberry notes resemble leaves with berries, but there isn't much sweetness in them. The rose is bright, and the fragrance is really interesting

What a strange scent, I can't understand what kind of pyramid this is. No leather or rose is felt here, only a sharp leathery smell. For me, it's not citrusy, but just unpleasant. Memo with French leather - that's truly beautiful, but here it's just blackcurrant leaf and sour berries. It reminds me of some kind of tea, like Mate, but not in a good way. Raspberry, if present, is only the one in the brew, not fresh 😒

This line is simply amazing! The fragrance, though not complex, sounds incredibly chic! Rose is in the foreground, followed by tart blackcurrant and a hint of citrus. Very bright and truly feminine 🌸

The scent of rose with citruses like lemon, bergamot, and mandarin is, in principle, not bad. But these sour berries. Why are they here? The weak longevity just kills all the pleasure. This isn't a perfume, but rather an air freshener that quickly dissipates. It doesn't even reach edt quality, it's more like just a cologne

The fragrance is simply gorgeous, full of femininity and mystery. On me, it unfolds as a delicate rose with raspberry berries, adding freshness with citrus and a touch of tartness from blackcurrant. In the base, amber and vanilla are felt, creating an incredibly cozy aftertaste 🌹

The fragrance is really beautiful, but this citrus-floral note with rose doesn't impress me. I prefer to experience rose in its natural form, and in perfume, it smells completely different 😕

The fragrance truly impresses with its sophistication. This perfume house creates real masterpieces. It's a matter of taste, of course, but there isn't a single mistake in the composition. I wear it when Kelly starts to feel too strong, too leathery (it usually depends on the weather) Miss Rose in hand, wearing a delicate beige suede glove)))

This fragrance isn't just a rose, it's a real extravaganza - bright, red, captivating! In fact, it's more like ripe raspberries, right in the perfume bouquet. The scent just knocks you off your feet! Summer in every drop! 🍓

How pleasant it is to feel this tartness! An amazing creation that simply captivates. It has a real power, and it feels very natural. It's not just the smell of chemicals or something artificial, but a true elixir that seems to fill you with energy. Almost magic, nothing less!

Jean-Claude Ellena's fragrances always stand out for their uniqueness, and this one is no exception. The author's style is clearly evident in it. The composition is quite complex, you wouldn't call it light. Nevertheless, the fragrance is truly beautiful and has its admirers. Personally, it seems a little too intrusive for me 😅

A magnificent bouquet of bright Bulgarian roses with dense petals. Notes of blackcurrant and citrus create an amazing play of light and shadow, giving the composition incredible realism )

The citrus freshness is certainly there, but it's somehow cloying. The berry notes just seem out of place, and the floral accents don't save the situation at all. The result is something strange and unbearable. A sillage with vanilla and wood? That's just a nightmare! It stinks so much you want to cover your nose and run far away
