Description of the composition

The composition of Oud Nuit unfolds as a living composition, where notes flow without rush and without gaps. The creative approach of Abercrombie & Fitch comes through in details that define the fragrance identity. No excess details, only what works, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de Cologne emphasizes the depth and body this composition needs.

At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Ambery, Citrus, Leather and Wood. It also reaches into Gourmet. At family level the composition sits in East, Leather and Wood.

When the pyramid is blended into one block the fragrance opens as a single chord with a airy lemon mood: Ambergris, Bergamot, Leather accord, Mandarin and Oud.

The middle and base stages are perceived as a smooth transition from opening to trail, which gives the structure continuity.

The olfactory framework is shaped by these accords: Citrus, Wood, Amber and Leather forming a compact and readable structure. The profile is unisex, which makes the scent profile easier to read.

Taken together Oud Nuit sounds complete from start to finish — the start forms character, the heart develops the core line, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. This is the type of composition best understood through real development.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The scent is amazing, with woody notes and a slight bitterness, as well as citrus accents. I really liked it. This one and Oud Amour are probably my favorites. Essence, unfortunately, didn't impress me 😅

This scent, which I thought would be a winner, actually leaves a bad impression. The oud-leather note with bright orange at the start comes through, but quickly loses its charm. It's got good longevity and sillage, sure, but that doesn't save it from just being a letdown overall 😔
