Fragrance information:

Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Blue is a men's fragrance that takes your breath away from the first breath, offering a modern interpretation of the classic fougère style.

Fresh, spicy, and yet cozy, it perfectly reflects the spirit of adventure and confidence.

Identity and Release History

Released in 2018, this fragrance is part of the First Instinct collection from the brand Abercrombie & Fitch.

The brand Abercrombie & Fitch is much more than just a fashion retailer; it's a whole cultural era embodied in fragrances.

Founded in 1892 by David Abercrombie as a store for hunting and fishing equipment, the company has come a long way, becoming a symbol of youth fashion and lifestyle.

The First Instinct collection, as the name suggests, focuses on first instincts and spontaneous decisions.

First Instinct Blue brings notes of freshness and masculinity into this concept, making it an ideal companion for modern men who value freedom and style.

Positioning and Character

As a men's fragrance in eau de toilette format, First Instinct Blue has a medium sillage, meaning it leaves a noticeable but not overwhelming trail.

This makes it a versatile choice for various situations: from daily work to evening meetings and active leisure.

Thanks to its fougère character, the fragrance is suitable for spring and summer months when you want a feeling of coolness and energy.

Its balanced composition allows it to sound confident without excessive heaviness, which is especially important in warm weather.

For optimal use, it is recommended to apply First Instinct Blue to pulse points such as wrists, neck, and behind the ears, as well as on clothing to prolong longevity.

The medium sillage ensures a comfortable presence throughout the day, making the fragrance complimentary and attractive.

Author and Influence

The creation of this fragrance was handled by the outstanding perfumer Yves Cassar, known for his skill in creating complex and emotional compositions.

His approach to First Instinct Blue combines modern fruity and spicy chords with classic amber and woody bases, giving the fragrance depth and character.

This release strengthened Abercrombie & Fitch's position in the men's perfume niche, attracting attention from both brand fans and new connoisseurs.

It demonstrates how the brand adapts its traditions to modern trends, remaining true to its spirit of adventure.

If you liked First Instinct Blue, you can explore similar fragrances: Bvlgari Aqva Divina with its aquatic notes, Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Blue Woman for the women's version, and Versace Pour Homme Dylan Blue with its Mediterranean freshness.

Each of them offers a unique perspective on men's perfumery.

Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Blue is a fragrance that speaks of boldness and individuality.

Its ability to combine freshness with warmth makes it indispensable in any season, inviting you to follow your first instinct towards new discoveries.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of First Instinct Blue begins with refreshing top notes: juicy apple, citrusy bergamot, and spicy cardamom, which create an invigorating and fruity start.

At the heart of the fragrance, warm and aromatic notes unfold: black pepper adds spiciness, lavender brings floral softness, and rosemary enriches the composition with herbal shades.

The base consists of deep and sensual accords: ambergris provides warmth and longevity, sandalwood adds creamy woodiness, and tonka bean finishes the fragrance with sweet and vanilla nuances.

This layered structure allows the fragrance to smoothly transition from a vibrant opening to a cozy finish, creating a harmonious and memorable impression on the skin.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The first flanker of the First Instinct fragrance, in my opinion, only vaguely resembles the original, and that's just in name and appearance. This summer release from a brand known for its sweatshirts didn't continue the melon aquatic theme, as was the case with First Instinct. Instead, we got a fresh, slightly nostalgic fougère with a bright apple opening that harks back to the spirit of the 90s. Overall, its mood resonates more with the loud hit Fierce, which set the tone for all of perfumer Christophe Laudamiel's work. This is a fragrance that evokes images of Californian summer, skateboards, and pool parties - all of that is present in it

Cardamom, honestly, isn't usually my thing, but here it's absolutely perfectly blended. The scent is fresh, a little bit dry. It's a true spicy coolness with lavender that doesn't get lost in the overall composition

The flanker, unlike the original, sounds much more masculine and spicy. First, you feel spices, apple, and bergamot, and then a beautiful lavender unfolds in the heart along with juniper. The base is simply magnificent: sandalwood, tonka beans, and amber create a stunning sillage. And the bottle is a separate joy; the dark blue glass resembles sea waves
