Identity and History of Sensuous Noir

Estée Lauder, an American legend in the world of perfumery, introduced the fragrance Sensuous Noir in 2010 as part of its iconic Sensuous collection.

This perfume continues the brand's heritage, founded by Josephine Esther Mentzer, and embodies the spirit of elegance and sensuality that is the DNA of Estée Lauder.

Sensuous Noir offers a dark, mysterious interpretation, perfectly suited for women seeking depth in fragrances.

Released in an era when the perfume industry was actively experimenting with oriental and woody accords, Sensuous Noir quickly gained popularity among connoisseurs, becoming a symbol of refined femininity.

Its name "Noir" (black) hints at the mystery and intensity that unfold upon application to the skin, making this release significant in the brand's lineup.

Positioning and Character of the Fragrance

Sensuous Noir is classified as a women's fragrance, presented in the concentration of Eau de Parfum, which provides it with excellent longevity and richness.

The sillage of this perfume is described as subtly perceptible, creating an intimate aura that is not intrusive but captivating, ideally suited for personal moments.

Belonging to the Oriental and Woody families, it combines warm spicy, floral, and earthy notes, making it versatile for various moods and scenarios, from romantic evenings to special events.

Creators Behind the Fragrance

The creation of Sensuous Noir was worked on by Perfumer IFF, known for their expertise in crafting complex compositions.

Their contribution allowed the integration of diverse notes into a harmonious ensemble that reflects contemporary trends in perfumery, while remaining true to the traditions of Estée Lauder.

This release highlights the brand's ability to adapt to changing preferences, offering fragrances that resonate with a wide audience and strengthen its reputation as an innovator.

When and How to Wear Sensuous Noir

Sensuous Noir reveals its full potential in cool weather, especially in autumn and winter, when its warm base notes create a cozy sensation.

It is excellent for evening outings, dates, or special occasions where an atmosphere of elegance and mystery is desired.

For daytime use, it can be applied moderately to enjoy the floral accents without being overwhelming, making it complementary and recognizable in intimate settings.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. The scent undoubtedly has a noble sound, but on my skin, it unfolds completely differently. Almost all the time I only smell patchouli and resins, and the rose seems to be somewhere far away. I can't say it's an ideal option for me

What an amazing scent this is! I don't understand why they discontinued it. I still have an unopened bottle, but I'm already starting to worry about how I'll manage without this magnificent fragrance with hot pepper!!! On me, it unfolds completely peppery, the other notes simply complement it. This is a spicy scent of true temptation!

I bought 50 ml for a ridiculous price when it was discontinued. At first, I didn't understand what this marvel was. But then I realized that the scent is completely unlike what's offered now. It has beauty, power, and strength! It's such a shame they removed it, it's in the same league as Midnight and Belle. Long-lasting, with a bright sillage, coniferous-resinous. I cherish it, just like Belle

The fragrance is simply mesmerizing, its femininity and depth are felt in every note. It's luxurious and leaves behind a mysterious trail that doesn't let go 💖

For a long, long time, I dreamed of finding a perfume with a beautiful coniferous note. I tried so many things, read tons of reviews about fragrances I couldn't test. In the end, I made a choice and ordered, relying on the opinions of others. I waited a long time for it to arrive, but spring allowed me to be patient, even though its time is autumn and winter.

There isn't a drop of cologne or a masculine note in this fragrance. Its coniferous quality is delicate and sweetish, not cloying at all. It blends very softly with vanilla and amber. The amber sounds subtle, without salty undertones. There's no solemnity or audacity in it. It's pure bliss, my way to relax. It unfolds especially beautifully on hair, creating an intimate aura

Winter has finally arrived, and now I mostly choose Sensuous Noir. Sometimes, of course, I alternate it with Coromandel, which has always been dear to me. In the frost, this scent is simply MAGICAL: the sweet coniferous note creates an atmosphere of an approaching New Year. When I'm in warmth, the coniferous notes subside a bit, and the fragrance becomes soft and velvety, enveloping me in a sweet bitterness that I really like. My husband noted that for him, this smell reminds him of cinnamon

I recently swapped for this perfume, and now I have it. When this series was on sale, I was thrilled with all the fragrances and now regret not buying any. But when I opened the package, I realized I expected something softer. The scent is indeed high-quality and interesting, but right now it smells too sharp for me. Perhaps it's because of the coniferous notes. I think it will unfold better in winter ❄️

This scent looks appealing, but in reality, it only evokes fear. I'm not worried that it was discontinued because I don't need it at all. Its sweetness is so intense it's suffocating, and the smell of fir balm or something similar from a coniferous forest only makes it worse. It's sweet, yet it creates a feeling of cold, as if it chills you to the bone. It reminds me of something from Lalique's Perles and Goutal's Nuit Étoilée, but in the worst way. I can't say it's pleasant )

The scent isn't bad, but honestly, it doesn't quite measure up to Belle d'Opium. There's something to it, but the emotions that Opium evokes aren't felt here. Overall, you could say it's a decent option, but nothing more

How long I've dreamed of it. Finally found this amazing beauty. But for now, our relationship isn't working out. I hope that with time we'll become friends))) The fragrance is very bright, leaves a trail and clearly attracts attention. No unisex vibe here at all. This is a sweet, distinctly feminine and evening perfume

This fragrance, in my opinion, is more suitable for a mature, serious man in a strict suit. On a young woman, it looks strange. Maybe on a woman in her forties, a confident business lady with a cold gaze and nerves of steel, it would work. But overall, it's really very brutal. I can't say whether I like it or not, the feeling is somewhat ambiguous

The perfume surprises with its unusualness and originality, which sometimes even bewilders. First, you feel the cunning, exotic guaiac wood, and a little later, light spices appear, mixed with omnipresent patchouli. All this sounds very rich and bright, almost intoxicating. And then the real magic begins: the fragrance seems to be reborn, becoming soft and creamy, like a luxurious body cream, with notes of honey and vanilla, flowers and leather. The longevity is simply top-notch, any famous perfumery would be envious!!! 😲

I thought about ordering it as a New Year's gift, and thank goodness I decided to try it first! On my skin, it opened up quite heavily, like a strong men's cologne… and imagine that, on me, a woman((( But the tester smelled so nice and left a magical sillage… So, definitely test it before buying!!!

In perfume stores, I'm always drawn to blue and purple bottles, as they evoke associations with rich and warm fragrances. But Senscience Noir disappointed me. I expected something different, but got a sharp scent of pine and spices with a cloying sweetness of patchouli in amber. The fragrance, of course, isn't the worst, but it's much more suitable for men. Honestly, I can't imagine how it would smell on a girl!!

I just adore this perfume! It unfolds especially beautifully in autumn. The fragrance is rich and has a sillage, with notes of spices, woody notes, vanilla, honey, and lily. Over time, it becomes softer and more delicate, like cream. The scent is multifaceted and very feminine
