Identity and Release History

Embark on a fragrant journey with Goutal Paris Sables, a legendary unisex perfume that saw the light in 1985.

This masterpiece from Goutal Paris — a brand founded by the talented Annick Goutal and a symbol of French niche perfumery — belongs to the L'invitation au Voyage collection, which translates to "Invitation to Travel."

The name "Sables," meaning "sands," hints at inspiration from desert landscapes and exotic routes, making this fragrance a true olfactory adventure.

Released in an era when perfumery began to experiment more boldly with oriental and spicy accords, Sables quickly gained recognition as an innovative and emotional release.

Its presence in the collection emphasizes the theme of exploration and discovery, perfectly reflecting the spirit of Goutal Paris, where every bottle is a poem written with fragrances.

Note Pyramid: A Journey to the Heart of the Fragrance

The composition of Sables is a rich tandem of spicy, oriental, and woody elements that seamlessly intertwine, creating a multifaceted experience.

At the start, you are greeted with sharp and warm notes, such as black pepper and cinnamon, adding spiciness and dynamism.

As it unfolds, the heart of the fragrance fills with the balsamic depth of immortelle and delicate floral notes, which soften the spiciness and add sensuality.

In the base, the fragrance gains stability and warmth thanks to sandalwood, amber, and sweetish vanilla, creating a cozy and long-lasting finish.

This journey from bright spiciness to soothing woody sweetness makes Sables unforgettable for connoisseurs of complex compositions.

Positioning and How to Wear

Goutal Paris Sables is positioned as a unisex fragrance, suitable for both men and women who value boldness and elegance in perfumery.

The concentration of eau de toilette ensures a balanced intensity, ideal for daily use, and its noticeable trail leaves a trail of memories without being overwhelming.

The fragrance performs excellently in cool seasons — autumn and winter, when its warm spicy and oriental notes unfold to their fullest.

It is suitable for evening outings, romantic dates, or special occasions where individuality needs to be highlighted.

For optimal effect, it is recommended to apply to pulsating points on the skin, such as wrists and neck, allowing the notes to reveal themselves gradually and naturally.

Authors and Legacy

Behind the creation of this cult fragrance are two outstanding perfumers: Annick Goutal, the brand's founder, and Isabelle Doyen.

Their collaboration brought into Sables a unique blend of artistic vision and technical mastery, characteristic of Goutal Paris.

Annick Goutal, with her love for music and nature, and Isabelle Doyen, known for her attention to detail, created a fragrance that reflects the brand's DNA — emotionality, quality, and innovation.

Sables strengthened Goutal Paris's reputation as a pioneer in niche perfumery, showing that unisex fragrances can be deep and inspiring.

Its influence is evident in the brand's subsequent releases, which continue to explore themes of travel and oriental accords, making it an important milestone in perfumery history.

Similar Fragrances to Explore

If you loved Sables, it's worth paying attention to other fragrances with a similar character.

For example, Eudora Bella Althea offers floral-spicy notes, Northern Lights Aphrodite combines oriental and woody accords, and Salvador Dali Dali Fabulous 4 presents a bold spicy-woody composition.

These options will help expand your olfactory palette and find new favorites.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The scent is really strange. Sweetness with spices immediately hits your nose. At first, there's a sharp black pepper, and ten minutes later, cinnamon, which they clearly didn't skimp on, and a bit of sandalwood are added. For about an hour, it plays with sweetness and spice, but then some note appears, possibly immortelle, which gives it all a musty undertone. It's quite unusual and evokes conflicting feelings. In the end, the fragrance transitions to amber and tea, becoming softer and calmer. The longevity is impressive, especially on clothes, and the sillage is powerful too. You can tell there's a serious perfumery school behind this-the quality is top-notch, even though the scent itself is peculiar. For a collection, this perfume is a real find

This fragrance is a real mystery. Tobacco and chocolate notes intertwine with resinous undertones, creating an interesting cocktail. I confess, I lack the nuances to catch the immortelle, but one thing I can say for sure-I like it! In the beginning, it's very spicy, with hot leather accents, and in the end, it resembles cherry chocolate cigarillos, but only from the pack, not smoldering. This scent doesn't just envelop you, it creates a dense, almost tangible cocoon around you. Strong and strict, it evokes masculine emotions, even if you wear it yourself. I get the same feelings from it as from La Couche du Diable by Serge Lutens and Vinyl by Franck Bocle 🔥

A beautiful fragrance! It's soft and spicy, with woody notes and a light resinous accent. Elegant and versatile. This scent is like it's talking about a man who knows his worth

The scent is simply AMAZING! Balsamic notes combined with spices create something incredible. It's not just a smell, but a whole palette of emotions that makes you think about something more. Definitely worth trying
