Fragrance information:

The house of Le Labo gifted the world with Ambrette 9 in 2006. By character, a unisex fragrance drawing from the musk, fruit, and aldehyde families. The fragrance was crafted by perfumers Fabrice Penot and Michel Almairac. The fragrance belongs to the ambery, musk, and fairy groups. An eau de parfum — light-footed, but utterly unforgettable.

The sillage is very delicate — an intimate cloud that stays close to the skin. It stays on the skin for a good while — longevity is firmly in the moderate range. Brand country — the United States. A rich, layered composition that reveals itself differently depending on your mood and the time of day.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The olfactory structure of Ambrette 9 unfolds as an expressive line of development, where layers reveal themselves smoothly and sequentially. The creative approach of Le Labo is evident in details that define the fragrance identity. No excess details, only what works, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail.

At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Ambery, Fairy, Musk and Green. The palette also extends to Fruit, Citrus and Aromatic.

In a unified mixed pyramid the opening appears as one connected movement with a ethereal unusual mood: Aldehydes, Ambergris, Ambrette, Fruit note, Lemon and musk.

The middle and base stages are perceived as a gradual shift without abrupt breaks, which preserves the scent identity through drydown.

The accord architecture is built around these accords: Citrus, Fruit, Musc and Amber without random overlap. Background accords such as Cosmetic add depth to the backdrop. The profile is unisex, which clarifies the composition character. In longevity terms Middle suggests confident staying power.

Overall Ambrette 9 reads as a cohesive composition — the opening sets direction, the heart develops the core line, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

An excellent choice for those sensitive to scents. Ambrette 9 is a soft and cozy amber fragrance that's suitable for everyday wear. Sometimes it feels like it's not quite there, it can be barely noticeable, but it always comes back to you throughout the day. On the skin, it resembles the sweet smell of chewing gum

The scent leaves a feeling of emptiness. Ambrette appears and disappears, as if playing with you, but ultimately leaves nothing. It's intriguing, but too ephemeral and fragile

The formula has only nine components, and the main one is Helvetolide musk. This is undoubtedly one of the most impressive white musks I've encountered, with a unique and complex aroma. Its olfactory profile begins with green-fruity notes, where pear is discernible, and smoothly transitions into the powdery-amber scent of ambrette. Yes, it's not as bright as one might wish, and it remains within the realm of musk, but in terms of its complexity and uniqueness, it can be compared to another favorite musk-Romandolide. Considering the price of the Ambrette 9 bottle, it's worth remembering that it might contain natural raw material from ambrette seeds. The top note of Helvetolide is accentuated by a tart, slightly synthetic fruity accord with an emphasis on pear, while the powdery-amber finish is complemented by ionones and other white musks. These are what create that very effect of musky cleanliness. But it's worth noting that the parts of the composition are not equal: the fruity note disappears quite quickly, leaving behind an indistinct but comfortable final accord for musk lovers 🍐
