Identity and Inspiration of Memo Marfa

In 2016, the niche perfume house Memo introduced the unisex fragrance Marfa, part of the Fleurs Bohèmes collection.

This woody-floral perfume is inspired by the mysterious town of Marfa in Texas, known for its minimalist architecture and artistic pilgrimage atmosphere, where endless deserts meet the starry sky.

The Marfa fragrance embodies the philosophy of the Memo brand: journeys in scents, transforming personal memories into olfactory adventures.

Since its founding in 2007 in Paris, Memo Paris has become a symbol of exquisite niche compositions, and Marfa is a vivid example, inviting you on a fantastic journey through scents.

Positioning and How to Wear

Memo Marfa is classified as a unisex fragrance, suitable for both men and women, making it ideal for shared use.

Released in the concentration of eau de parfum, it has a medium trail that leaves a subtle but noticeable trace, perfect for daily wear or special occasions.

For optimal fragrance development, it is recommended to apply 1 to 2 sprays on the skin and 1 to 2 sprays on clothing.

This dosage allows you to enjoy the balance between freshness and longevity, highlighting the woody-floral harmony of the composition without overloading.

The Marfa fragrance is excellent for warm seasons and evening events, creating an aura of mystery and inspiration.

Its versatility and compliment-drawing nature make it a choice for those who value unique niche perfumes that can tell stories through scents.

Creators and Philosophy

The talented perfumer Alienor Massenet worked on creating Memo Marfa, skillfully combining elements of the desert and starry sky in an olfactory composition.

Her approach reflects the Memo brand's pursuit of innovation and artistic expression through scents, reinforcing the house's reputation as a pioneer in niche perfumery.

The Marfa fragrance belongs to the floral and woody families, which emphasizes its versatility and connection with natural motifs.

If you appreciated this composition, you might be interested in similar fragrances such as Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum, Mancera Wild Python, and Givenchy Amarige, which also explore floral-woody themes.

Description of the composition

Composition of the Fragrance: The note pyramid of Memo Marfa is a harmonious blend of elements where the top, middle, and base notes intertwine, creating a cohesive image.

The composition includes agave, cedar, mandarin, white musk, orange blossom, sandalwood, tuberose, vanilla and ylang-ylang.

At the start, the fragrance may open with the fresh citrus notes of mandarin, which gradually blend with the floral accents of orange blossom and tuberose.

At the heart of the composition, woody shades of cedar and sandalwood dominate, complemented by green agave and exotic ylang-ylang, creating a velvety-smoky effect.

The base of the fragrance is built on warm vanilla and gentle white musk, which provide longevity and complete the scent with a soft, shimmering haze.

This blend of notes from the citrus, gourmand, green, musk, white floral, and woody groups creates a complex and multifaceted bouquet, reflecting the spirit of travel and artistic impressions characteristic of Memo's philosophy.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

At first, you feel a powerful bouquet of sweet white flowers, and then persistent tuberose and banana-like ylang-ylang come to the forefront. This fragrance resembles floral honey with such a cloying sweetness that it's sickening, and woody notes are felt in the base. It's bright and enveloping, with a slight retro undertone. For now, I prefer to enjoy its richness and floral sweetness from a distance

This fragrance, of course, isn't for all situations and styles. It's quite self-sufficient on its own, yet it doesn't flaunt it. The tuberose in this perfume blends beautifully with the unusual greenness of agave and a bright ylang-ylang that reminds one of banana. Some say it smells like something from the past, but I disagree. In my opinion, it's quite in line with modern perfumery trends

The scent, of course, isn't the worst, but it's not a masterpiece either. Cedar, tuberose, and ylang-ylang seem to be blended quite well, but in the end, it turns out to be something too calm and even boring. Unisex, they say, but I'd still prefer to see it on a woman, although I'm not sure it would be a successful choice. Overall, not impressive

The fragrance truly impresses with its femininity and brightness. Tuberose here sounds simply magnificent, and ylang-ylang, orange blossom, and woody notes create an interesting composition. It's rich and long-lasting, with a sillage that leaves a lingering aftertaste. This is one of those times when you want to try something new and discover new facets of perception )

I don't detect any tuberose or orange blossom here, not at all. The smell reminds me of a cherry pit and canned cherries from Hungarian Globus compote. There's a slight almond bitterness that brings back memories of my old Folie Rouge by ID Parfums. I don't hear the retro vibe that everyone talks so much about. The fragrance is, in principle, not bad, but I don't understand why it costs so much 😕

Marfa isn't just a name, but the name of a small town in America where various creative and unusual people live. On the bottle, you can see many eyes, which are scary at first, but when the fear fades, the true beauty of the fragrance is revealed. Tuberose is promised here, and it truly delights: modern, stylish, without excessive sweetness, yet very sensual, with light notes of wood and musk. Everything looks very harmonious, without unnecessary details, simultaneously restrained and luxurious. Tuberose, cedar, and musk - these are the main accents. Perhaps this isn't the brightest image of tuberose, but all components blend perfectly with each other, creating a beautiful and self-sufficient composition 🌸

How interesting how weather affects a fragrance's development! 🌦️ Today I decided to try Marfa again, which I couldn't quite get before. And now, in this foggy morning hour, it finally revealed all its secrets! 💖 I agree, it's soft, enveloping, and the powdery tuberose with citrus notes just sounds amazing 🌸 In autumn fog, it's definitely a "yes"! But I don't see the point in a full version (and the price is biting, of course)), so I'll just enjoy the sample from time to time! 😊

I don't understand who could think it smells harsh and distinctive. This seems to be the softest tuberose among niche fragrances. On my skin, a strange nuance appears, reminiscent of dry, creamy dust 😔

The scent just blows your mind, but you gotta be careful with it! If you overdo it, you might get a super sweet effect. It's got a lot of vanilla with hints of tuberose, and sometimes even something tobacco-like comes through. Sounds really powerful and bright

Marfa behaves strangely. I perceive a completely different composition - the sweetness of vanilla and a light tobacco accent. The smell is indeed pleasant. But here's another transformation from Marfa: it disappears from the skin in just a couple of hours, although many claim it's a very long-lasting fragrance!!

The scent is really cool, it draws you in! The sweetness and brightness are simply captivating. In the base, sandalwood, white cedar, musk, and vanilla - that's just chic! 🍂 Citrus notes are in the top, although I don't feel them as strongly, but overall the fragrance is pleasing! 🌟

Marfa is definitely not for cold weather, the scent is too warm. In autumn, it smelled wonderful, like a sweet powdery embrace, but now it's just sour. You wouldn't even recognize it as the same scent you used to like

How sad it is when you remember how sweet and powdery it smelled. My nose just drowned in the scent of flowers and vanilla. Heliotrope stands out the most, such an unusual note, I've always loved it in perfumery 🌸

Autumn brought new shades to the Marfa fragrance, now it has a sandalwood powder feel, it has become warmer and drier, cozier. I can't understand how some people perceive it so densely 😅

My acquaintance with this brand was a real discovery for me. The Marfa fragrance turned out to be a true find in the world of tuberose. Although, to be honest, I feel more notes of orange blossom in it than tuberose itself. It's so cozy and soft, with a light woody undertone, that it's simply a pleasure to breathe it in
