Identity and the Birth of the Fragrance

In 1999, the world of perfumery saw the appearance of Yves Saint Laurent Vice Versa, an eau de toilette that immediately won the hearts of fragrance connoisseurs.

Released in an era when the brand continued bold experiments, this perfume became a symbol of femininity and playfulness, reflecting the spirit of the times.

Yves Saint Laurent Vice Versa belongs to the Floral and Fruity families, which promises a juicy and delicate character of the fragrance.

Its creation was entrusted to the talented perfumer Karine Dubreuil, known for her ability to combine unexpected notes into harmonious compositions.

Positioning and How to Wear

This fragrance is positioned as women's, ideally suited for those who seek a balance between freshness and warmth.

In the form of eau de toilette, Vice Versa offers moderate longevity, but with a noticeable sillage that leaves a pleasant impression behind you.

Thanks to its fruity-floral base, the fragrance is perfect for spring and summer days, adding lightness and joy to everyday life.

It will become a wonderful companion for dates, meetings with friends, or simply for lifting the mood on sunny days.

The Author and Influence on the Brand

The work of Karine Dubreuil on Vice Versa demonstrates how a perfumer can embody the boldness and provocation inherent in Yves Saint Laurent.

The fragrance strengthened the brand's reputation as a creator of innovative and feminine compositions, remaining true to the principles of emancipation and elegance.

In the heart of the fragrance, a rich bouquet of flowers unfolds: bellflower, freesia, jasmine, melon, orange blossom (neroli), peach, peony, and tuberose, adding depth and tenderness.

The base completes the composition with warm and long-lasting notes: ambergris, cedar, iris, vanilla, and musk, ensuring a long and memorable resonance on the skin.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This scent was associated with my friend for a long time. She adored it, and I liked it too. But, to be honest, it seemed too sweet to me. I can't pinpoint exactly what bothered me, as it's truly beautiful, with floral-fruity notes. The sweetness is definitely there, but some note bothered me. I suspect it's the combination of tuberose and jasmine. I'm not a fan of jasmine, and here it's also with tuberose, which adds its rich white floral quality. But despite that, the fragrance still evokes pleasant emotions and inspiration )

Amazing fragrance! I smell fruits and berries, it's simply DELICIOUS! Tomatoes aren't detectable here, and thank God, melon doesn't interfere either. Overall, the perfume is truly captivating and unusual

Berries with a chemical taste and overly sweet melon. The fragrance seems outdated, reminds me of many things. Personally, for me, it lacks individuality and character. But the longevity is good 🌸

This fragrance is too sweet, even a bit suffocating. But in school, my friend and I often used it; her mom had a bottle in the closet. I remember how great it felt to feel grown-up with this scent 😍

I'll try to convey my impressions. The fragrance truly attracts attention. It's so bright and floral that it's hard to miss. Its sillage is simply enormous, as if it lives a life of its own. But you need to be careful with the dosage, otherwise you might overdo it. Overall, it leaves a strange feeling: I kind of like it, but at the same time, something bothers me. I don't know how to feel about it )

This fragrance used to be on everyone's lips among my friends, and I constantly heard about its bright sweet berries with melon in the sillage. At the time, I didn't even realize that tuberose would become my favorite. This creamy, slightly oily nuance surprised me back then. Perhaps now I perceive it differently, but it has become quite difficult to find

First time encountering tuberose, and it was something incredible! Creamy and waxy nuances combined with sweet notes create an atmosphere of true joy and femininity. This fragrance fills you with energy when your mind is full of chaos, yet it gives a sense of lightness and inspiration!!! The floral-fruity composition, though contradictory, is very beautiful and positive. Too bad it's gone forever
