Amouage Opus V: A Unisex Masterpiece of 2011

In 2011, the world of perfumery witnessed the birth of Amouage Opus V, a fragrance that instantly became part of the legendary Library Collection of the brand Amouage.

This perfume, known in Russia as "Opus 5", is an eau de parfum and is positioned as unisex, making it an ideal choice for those who value versatility and depth.

Amouage is more than a brand; it is a symbol of luxury, born in the sands of Arabia in 1983 under the patronage of Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Opus V perfectly reflects this DNA, combining Eastern exoticism with European elegance.

As part of the Library Collection, it continues the tradition of artistic exploration, where each fragrance is a separate work of art, designed to inspire and surprise fans worldwide.

Character, Sillage, and Development of Opus V

Opus V has a medium sillage that leaves behind a subtle yet persistent trail, ideal for creating a memorable but unobtrusive presence.

This makes it suitable for various scenarios: from daily wear to special events, where it adds a note of sophistication and confidence.

The fragrance belongs to the Floral, Oriental, and Aromatic families, creating a unique balance between the tenderness of flowers, the spiciness of the East, and the freshness of aromatic chords.

Such a combination ensures versatility that attracts both women and men, offering a complex composition that unfolds gradually on the skin, adapting to individual warmth.

From the first moments, Opus V envelops you with a playful freshness that gradually transitions into a rich floral heart, and ultimately settles into a warm, woody base.

This dynamic transition makes wearing the fragrance an engaging experience, where each phase reveals a new facet of its personality, from initial brightness to profound refinement, inviting you on a long and pleasant journey of olfactory discoveries.

The Creative Genius Behind Opus V

The creation of Opus V was led by creative director Christopher Chong, whose visionary approach helped shape the modern face of Amouage.

Under his guidance, the fragrance became not just a perfume, but a narrative that tells a story through notes.

Chong is known for bringing deep cultural and artistic context to his creations, and Opus V is a shining example, reflecting his pursuit of innovation and emotional depth, making this fragrance a true work of art in the world of perfumery.

The influence of Opus V on the Amouage brand is significant, as it strengthened the house's reputation as a creator of complex, unisex fragrances that go beyond traditional gender stereotypes.

This is a fragrance for those who seek more than just a scent—a genuine emotional journey that leaves a mark on memory and hearts, confirming Amouage's status as a pioneer in luxury perfumery.

Description of the composition

The fragrance pyramid of Amouage Opus V begins with a sparkling combination of Rum and Violet Root, which create an intriguing and slightly intoxicating start, reminiscent of tropical evenings.

At the heart of the fragrance, noble floral chords unfold: delicate Iris, passionate Rose, and alluring Jasmine, intertwining in a harmonious symphony that adds softness and elegance.

The base of the composition is built on a solid foundation of Oud and Woody Accord, which give the fragrance depth, longevity, and a warm, enveloping finish, perfectly concluding this olfactory story.

This multi-layered construction allows Opus V to evolve on the skin, offering different facets over time, from the initial freshness to the cozy woody base, making each moment of wear unique and memorable.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

A scent that evokes conflicting feelings. It's rebellious and feminine at the same time, but there's something sad about it. A woody-leather base with rich iris and a light alcoholic accent create an atmosphere where it's hard to go unnoticed. This perfume seems to scream about its individuality, but at the same time leaves a feeling of sadness )

The iris here is really beautiful, the rose is moderate, and the oud is light and pleasant. But this alcoholic note. It spoils the whole impression. If it weren't for the rum, the scent would be simply gorgeous, but alas, it didn't work for me 😕

A fragrance that immediately catches your eye, but there's something unpleasant about it. The longevity is simply beyond reasonable! Musky rose, but with a bitter aftertaste. It can unfold gently, with a light iris powder, or it can shock with a leathery note, soaked in something heavy. But this musky density makes it unbearably persistent 😔

The scent is powdery, with a tart undertone, sometimes there's a slight bitterness. An alcoholic note appears, but it's not too intrusive. I mainly smell rose and jasmine, as well as woody accents. The fragrance is truly noble, but not without its nuances

The scent didn't work for me, too much sour oud and rum. It feels quite specific, more for men. Although, perhaps it would unfold differently on someone else

The scent is simply amazing, it smells incredible! You can feel woody notes, jasmine, and something completely unique that adds freshness. The smell is truly complex and rich, with a slight touch of mystery 🌟

This fragrance is definitely not for everyone. It's more suited for women than men. The floral notes are very light and delicate, there's no sweetness in it. On a man, it would seem strange. The longevity and intensity are pleasing, the sillage can be felt several meters away 🌸

The pyramid is simply gorgeous, and the scent is captivating! I want to inhale it again and again, feeling the world around me fill with beauty and inspiration 🌸

This Amouage fragrance is simply incredible! It's so delicate and refined, with a beautiful rose framed by a light powdery note and a slightly resinous oud. I'm sure you won't find anything like it anywhere else. And on me, an interesting hint of smoldering rubber also appears, and that's just super! 💖

This scent just threw me off - I couldn't recognize a single note. The opening is sharp and spicy, right in your face. But somewhere deep down, even at that moment, there's such a refined florality. When the spices calm down, it becomes softer, but still remains quite powerful. It's hard to describe, like all Amouage perfumes. You absolutely have to try it, it's multilayered, playful, and truly original 🌸

Perfumes for me are more than just a collection of notes. I don't analyze them, I just feel if I like them or not. In this composition, all the notes bring back pleasant memories for me. I feel joy from the purchase, but at the same time there's a certain sadness, as if something has gone forever ))

What an amazing and bright fragrance! It simply captivates with its femininity. On me, it unfolds with notes of rose, powdery iris, and woody accents, plus a touch of expensive alcohol. The longevity is simply impressive, and the sillage leaves an unforgettable impression

The scent is, of course, long-lasting and has good sillage, but honestly, it's completely unimpressive. The oud here sounds like I've heard it many times before in Montale perfumes and Arab oils. As if all this has already been, and there's nothing new. There's a certain sadness in this scent, as if it's trying to say something but can't

This fragrance from the library is simply a discovery. First, you smell tar and rose, and it's quite a strange combination. The first few minutes are like digging in the dirt, but then something amazing happens. The rose starts to sound fresh and cold, as if you're outside on a cool day.

I can't help but notice that this is the first perfume that doesn't lose its freshness, but rather seems to get younger with each moment. On my skin, it unfolds in a special way, and the sweetness that appears towards the end is surprising. It's not just a standard adult fragrance, it seems to reflect something deeper, and that's truly captivating

This fragrance didn't impress me at all. I don't smell floral notes or rum; instead, on me, it's a real thermonuclear mix-heavy oud and dense civet. The longevity, like most Amouages, is simply amazing, getting rid of it was a real challenge. The scent is certainly memorable, but in my case, it's more like a bitter twist of fate ))
