Identity and Release History

In 2020, under the patronage of the Sultan of Oman, the perfume house Amouage introduced the fragrance Crimson Rocks to the world, which became a gem in the Renaissance Collection.

This release, launched as perfume water, reflects the spirit of revival and luxury inherent to the brand since its founding in 1983.

The legend, born in the sands of Arabia, continues to inspire enthusiasts with new discoveries, offering unprecedented quality and depth.

Created for those seeking more than just a fragrance, Crimson Rocks embodies the boldness and sophistication characteristic of Oriental perfumery.

Its name evokes images of scarlet rocks, symbolizing passion and resilience, perfectly conveying the character of the composition and making it a choice for true connoisseurs of the art of perfumery.

Positioning and Wearability

Positioned as a feminine fragrance, Crimson Rocks possesses a universal charm that can also entice men who appreciate depth and elegance.

With a medium sillage, it is ideal for evening outings, romantic dates, or special events where it's important to leave a memorable impression without being overpowering.

For optimal enjoyment, experts recommend entering the cloud of sprays on the skin so that the fragrance gently unfolds with body heat, and applying 2 to 3 sprays on clothing for a longer-lasting effect.

This dosage allows you to enjoy all the notes, from the spicy opening to the woody base, without overload, making it perfect for cool seasons and cozy evenings.

Creators and Influence

The creative duo of perfumers Domitille Bertier and Renaud Salmon brought to Crimson Rocks a unique blend of tradition and innovation, reflecting Amouage's influence on the global perfume industry.

Their work reinforces the brand's status as a luxury trendsetter, inspiring bold experiments in niche perfumery.

If Crimson Rocks has won your heart, you might be interested in similar fragrances, such as Elizabeth Arden Red Door with its floral accents, The Spirit of Dubai Turath for lovers of Oriental notes, or Francesca dell'Oro Ambrosine with its sweet nuances.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The scent is truly versatile, you could say it suits both men and women. It resembles lyrical compositions, but with a special character. The aroma of nuts and honey with a rich dark rose creates an interesting combination. Saffron here sounds unusual, with a light resinous nuance. From the very beginning, a slight smoky accent is felt. This is definitely not the Amouage you might expect, and that's its charm

The bottle is simply gorgeous, and inside - a real treasure! The scent of honeyed rose with cinnamon is something incredible. It envelops you so pleasantly, as if it's hugging you. The longevity is simply amazing!!! Definitely adding it to my favorites

The fragrance is really interesting, but clearly suitable for winter, especially leading up to the holidays. Here I sense honey notes, cinnamon, and woody accents, and I also think cherry is present. Perhaps it's rose and pink pepper sounding this way. Overall, an oriental composition, quite appealing and mysterious ✨

Usually dessert is served at the end, and I try to stick to that rule when reviewing collections. But this time, I want to start with a fragrance that, in my opinion, stands out among the others in the Renaissance collection. Although, perhaps calling it the best isn't entirely accurate - it simply reminds me of those Amouage fragrances that were at the peak of their popularity. It reminds me, but it's not quite the same.

Apparently, the task for perfumer Domitille Michalon-Bertier was quite simple. Renaud Salmon went to the Hajar mountains, where he felt peace and tranquility, and decided to create a fragrance that would convey this. As inspiration, he took the color of the rock, a red hue consisting of sandstone. And what could be redder than cherry and rose? Initially, he thought of combining notes of rose and Omani honey, but, as he himself said, he had to abandon the honey due to its excessive sweetness. Moreover, in the mountains, Omanis cultivate roses for rose water, doing so by an ancient method in clay ovens fueled by wood. As a result, the rose water loses its floral aroma and becomes more woody and smoky.

I didn't immediately notice the rose in Crimson Rocks, and what I did notice was rather strange and not entirely plausible. I wouldn't say this rose is unpleasant, it just doesn't align with the integrity of Amouage's ingredients and reminds me of something else, like in Tom Ford's Rose Prick. For me, the prominent elements of the fragrance were cinnamon and cherry, which, yes, really stand out. This cherry seems to float in a spicy, sweet cloud, where the other notes are hidden. But this cloud is filled with cinnamon dust, woody chips, and sweet honey. Nothing extraordinary, but the perfumer managed to combine the accords interestingly. Cinnamon connects with cherry, cherry is part of the rose, and honey adds sweetness

Today I finally got to try the new release. Don't expect roses here - they're just in the background, and the main notes are woody accents with a hint of buckwheat honey and cinnamon. The scent reminds me of a barrel where rich honey with spices was stored. Overall, the fragrance is quite interesting, warm, and cozy 😍

At first I was a little scared of the bottle's color)) I thought it would be some cloyingly sweet rose, almost bitter. But no! The rose turned out to be very pleasant, although it wasn't listed in the ingredients. Here, bright frankincense combines perfectly with cinnamon, and all this beauty unfolds against a soft, velvety rose. I will definitely wear it

The fragrance reminds me of a sweet syrup, thick and warm, with hints of spices. Rose, like a ghost, adds interesting accents to the overall sound. Wearing it is like drowning in comfort, the sillage leaves a pleasant aftertaste. It's especially good in autumn, but overall, the feeling it leaves is one of bitterness

The fragrance is truly bright and spicy, creating a feeling of warmth and coziness. First you smell cinnamon and honey, and then woody notes appear, adding depth. This perfume is perfect for the cold season, it's like a warm hug. The longevity is impressive, the sillage doesn't disappoint either. Suitable for both men and women, but, in my opinion, more for the stronger sex 🍂

The fragrance can be described as honey-spicy-woody-floral. The honey here isn't bitter like buckwheat, nor is it too sweet, but rather warm, combined with dry wood and light spices. The rose in this fragrance isn't at the forefront; rather, it's like a background, gently complementing the overall picture. This is quite unusual, as usually rose is highlighted, but here it's very restrained. Overall, the fragrance is pleasant and coherent, but I miss some kind of unique twist to make it truly memorable 🌸

What a cool color!!! Just a discovery for me. So beautiful, really. I've been looking for something from Amouage in a bright bottle for a long time, Sunshine didn't suit me, Lilac didn't either, it'll be interesting to see how this fragrance unfolds for me 🌸

The color is certainly appealing. Not bright red, but rather subdued, which is pleasing to the eye. Rose with honey and oak in the base - sounds tempting. Damn, how much I want to try this, but something tells me it's just a dream

The bottle is simply gorgeous! I'll definitely try it, I hope the honeyed rose will be at the forefront, as the fragrance is declared as feminine. For autumn - this is exactly what's needed
