Identity and Dreamy Collection

The fragrance H&M Above The Clouds, released in 2018, is a women's Eau de Toilette, part of the The Reveries collection.

Often, when talking about H&M perfumery, many imagine simple, affordable fragrances in the cosmetics department.

However, the perfumery history of this Swedish fast fashion giant is a fascinating example of how a fashion retailer has managed to create full and inspiring compositions, and Above The Clouds is a vivid confirmation of that.

The name "Above The Clouds" – "Above the Clouds" – immediately sets an elevated, airy tone, promising a journey into a world of dreams and lightness, which fully reflects the concept of The Reveries collection, dedicated to dreams and fantasies.

Positioning and Wearability

This fragrance is positioned as female and has a barely perceptible sillage, making it ideal for daily wear, the office, or gatherings in a small circle.

Thanks to the Eau de Toilette concentration, it is light and unobtrusive, perfect for the spring-summer season when one desires freshness and airiness.

If you liked Above The Clouds, you might also be interested in similar fragrances such as Byredo Blanche, Narciso Rodriguez Fleur Musc For Her and Nina Ricci Rose Extase, which also combine floral and musky chords.

It belongs to the fougère and spicy families, and by note groups – to floral, musky and spicy, adding depth and character to it.

Creative Duo and Influence

The creation of this perfume was worked on by talented perfumers Nisrin Grillet and Olivier Pescheux, whose experience allowed them to bring to life a light and elegant composition.

Their collaboration brought notes of professionalism and creativity to the fragrance, demonstrating that H&M is capable of attracting leading industry specialists for its perfume lines.

The release of Above The Clouds strengthened the brand's position in the accessible luxury perfume segment, showing that a fashion retailer can create fragrances with an interesting narrative and quality execution, expanding the audience and offering new sensory experiences.

Description of the composition

The composition Above The Clouds begins with a delicate accord of cotton flower, which creates a sensation of freshness and purity, like a light breeze.

In the heart of the fragrance, pink pepper (red berries) and rose unfold, adding spicy piquancy and floral tenderness, which gives the composition dynamism and warmth.

In the base, amber and musk are comfortably settled, providing longevity and a soft, enveloping finish that lingers on the skin, reminiscent of a light cloud trail.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The flowers here seem lost, their transparency and resonance blending with musk. The fragrance, though light, leaves a feeling of emptiness; the freshness doesn't delight, but rather causes sadness 🌧️

What a wonderful scent! You can feel the cleanliness, yes, that's for sure. A light rose and musk create an amazing combination, and a hint of pepper adds an interesting note. Pleasantly surprised, a really good and cozy smell!

The bottle ran out and I'm totally confused. Where do I look for it now? I immediately rushed to the mall, checked H&M, searched all the shelves, but this charming little chubby bottle never caught my eye. The scent is simply incredible, it gives such a freshness that words can't describe. It's a real find for cleanliness and lightness, even Byredo's Blanche couldn't compare

The scent reminds me of a light floral trail combined with musk, like the freshness after rain 🌸 The longevity is simply surprising, especially when compared to other perfumes from this line. Very pleasant, I'm waiting for summer to test it in the heat ☀️

The fragrance is like a fresh wind, penetrating every corner. It's light, almost weightless, with a creamy note and a slight sweetness. Indeed, very pleasant. But the longevity, alas, was disappointing — it doesn't measure up to other perfumes from this collection. Overall, WHAT A PITY!

The smell of fresh linen, like in luxury hotels, with a light and pleasant aroma. Summer is perfect for this feeling of cleanliness and freshness 🌼
