Identity and History

Introducing H&M Rose Absolute, a perfume that exceeds mass-market expectations.

Released in 2018, this fragrance is part of the The Essences collection by H&M, showing how the Swedish fast-fashion giant strives to create complex and refined perfume compositions.

Often, when speaking of H&M perfumes, many imagine simple, accessible scents, but H&M Rose Absolute proves that the brand can surprise with depth and quality.

This release reflects H&M's growing interest in niche perfumery, offering a unisex fragrance for those seeking something more than ordinary floral waters.

The Essences collection focuses on pure and intense notes, and Rose Absolute becomes its gem, embodying rose absolute in a modern way.

Positioning and Character

The unisex character of H&M Rose Absolute makes it a universal choice for anyone who values elegance and passion.

As an eau de parfum, it has a balanced intensity that unfolds gradually, leaving a noticeable trail that attracts attention.

The fragrance is perfect for evening outings or special occasions where confidence and charm are required.

Belonging to the Chypre and Floral families, H&M Rose Absolute combines the freshness of flowers with the depth of woody and balsamic chords.

Note groups include Balsamic, Floral, Spicy, and Woody, creating a multifaceted composition that changes throughout the day.

Authors and Influence

The creation of H&M Rose Absolute involved two outstanding perfumers: Nisrin Grillet and Olivier Pescheux.

Their collaboration brought a unique blend of French sophistication and a modern approach to the fragrance, making it a significant release in H&M's perfume line.

This perfume not only strengthens the brand's position in the world of affordable luxury perfumery but also draws attention to The Essences collection as a source of inspiration for connoisseurs.

The influence of H&M Rose Absolute on the brand lies in demonstrating that fast-fashion retailers can create fragrances with character and history, expanding the audience and offering alternatives to traditional niche brands.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of H&M Rose Absolute begins with a spicy and warm start: Cinnamon, Clary Sage, and Saffron create an intriguing introduction that immediately catches attention.

In the heart of the composition, delicate floral notes unfold: Freesia, Iris, and, of course, the absolute Rose, which becomes the central element, adding depth and passion.

The base of the fragrance is rooted in woody and balsamic chords with Frankincense, Patchouli, and White Cedar, providing a long-lasting and cozy finish.

This evolution allows the fragrance to smoothly transition from spicy freshness to floral tenderness, and finally to a solid woody base, creating an unforgettable experience on the skin.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The rose here is just overwhelming, and the spices with powder only add to its obtrusiveness. It's an evening fragrance, but it's so heavy you could suffocate. The longevity is decent, of course, but this dense sillage is just too much

Burgundy rose, and with spices - is that a joke? It sounds like someone tried to make a sophisticated cocktail, but it turned out to be a mess. Montale? Oh come on, don't make me laugh! It's not noble, rather it makes you want to cover your nose 😒

The fragrance is really persistent. The rose here is bright, and powder with spices add interesting accents. Patchouli clearly stands out. The scent turned out to have character, long-lasting and tart, just powerful 💥

The rose is beautiful, sure, but it's not worth getting that excited about. The woody-spicy frame is too intrusive for my taste. Saffron is there, but these tart herbs - just too much. I don't know who would like this, but it's not for me

As soon as I saw this fragrance, I immediately grabbed it from the shelf. But, honestly, I was disappointed. Montale fragrances in the "rose-oud" style remind me of some cheap drink diluted with lemonade. Maybe the heat affects me this way, but the feeling of sharpness and heaviness is simply depressing. Yes, it's powerful, with notes of rose, wood, and saffron, but that doesn't save it. If you want to try it, only in winter, when it's freezing
