Identity and Inspiration

The fragrance Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede, released in 2013, is an elegant interpretation of modern femininity, where delicate floral chords meet the sensual texture of suede.

This cologne, belonging to the floral families, quickly won the hearts of brand fans, becoming a symbol of sophistication and lightness for everyday and special moments.

Its name — Peony & Blush Suede — perfectly reflects the essence of the composition: peony as the embodiment of tenderness and suede, adding a touch of luxury and warmth.

The Master Behind the Fragrance

The creator of this masterpiece is the famous perfumer Christine Nagel, whose talent in creating complex but harmonious compositions is known worldwide.

Her work on Peony & Blush Suede demonstrates the ability to balance between floral freshness and leather depth, giving the fragrance a unique character and longevity.

Under Nagel's direction, this release strengthened the reputation of Jo Malone as a brand offering innovative and emotional perfumes that can be easily combined with other fragrances in the line.

How to Wear and Enjoy It

Peony & Blush Suede is positioned as a women's fragrance with a medium sillage, making it ideal for those who value a noticeable but unobtrusive presence.

The recommended dosage on the skin — from 1 to 2 sprays and on clothing — from 1 to 2 sprays, to emphasize the natural unfolding of notes without overload.

Thanks to its airy structure, it is perfect for the spring-summer season, adding elegance to both everyday looks and evening outings, and often receives compliments for its versatility and recognizability.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Peony & Blush Suede begins with a playful top note of red apple, which instantly gives a feeling of freshness and juiciness, like the first bite of a ripe fruit.

At the heart of the composition, a royal peony unfolds, adding delicate and lush floral tones that are associated with a spring garden and elegance.

The base layer is presented by sensual suede, which envelops the fragrance with a warm and soft trail, creating a contrast between the light beginning and the depth of the finale.

This combination of notes from the groups of floral, fruity, and leather ensures a smooth transition from bright fruitiness to floral tenderness and finally to a cozy leather base.

On the skin, the fragrance reveals itself gradually: first, the apple freshness dominates, then the peony unfolds its petals, and the suede gently sets the composition, leaving behind a lasting and pleasant trail.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. The fragrance starts with a ripe apple note, then a fresh rose appears, and suede adds an interesting accent. But the suede, in my opinion, is too rough. If it were a little softer and more delicate, it would be simply perfect.)))

The fragrance is really pleasant, you reach for it when you don't know what to wear. Its softness is delightful, and the sillage, though small, is noticeable. I'm not a fan of apples in perfumery, but here they're not irritating. Rose and peony combine perfectly, you can feel they're on the same level. A light musk is also present, and the suede note, in my opinion, only appears in the base. The longevity of this fragrance is simply excellent for a cologne

The fragrance is quite interesting, but with a hint of bitterness. It starts with a bright red apple, then sharply transitions into peony, and that's it, I don't smell anything else, not even suede. In the base, there's a slight sweetness, like powder. The longevity, by the way, is pleasing - better than other Jo Malone perfumes, and the sillage is also decent. Overall, a solid four

The 1.5 ml sample turned out to be a complete disappointment. This fragrance, to be honest, reminds me of some cheap air freshener. Nothing special, too banal and boring. Even my friends said they didn't like it. I don't recommend it if you want something worthwhile ))))

A woody fragrance that sparks interest, but it's not immediately clear if you like it or not. A dense bitterness, like sandalwood planks soaked in sea air, and pine nuts that add a bit of mystery. I don't detect any floral or fruity notes; it's not sweet at all and quite rough. I think this scent would suit both men and modern sporty women. Longevity and sillage are excellent, creating a comfortable cloud throughout the day. I like it when my man wears it, but there's still a feeling of uncertainty 🤔

When I first stumbled upon this fragrance at the Jo Malone counter, I was simply struck by its sweet and fruity opening. It was something incredible! But then, as if with a snap of the fingers, it transformed into something more 'semi-smoky' and suede-like. Nevertheless, the first notes left a vivid impression - they were truly juicy. I couldn't resist and bought it.

Now, when I wear it, I do smell a crisp apple at the beginning, but that sensation quickly fades, giving way to a completely unsweetened suede. The floral notes are also surprising: it's not the usual peony, but rather a dusty, peppery jasmine or heliotrope. Perhaps the fragrance had already 'rested' in the store and developed differently, or maybe it became more fruity under the influence of light and warmth. Honestly, I don't know. I expect it to reveal itself even more interestingly

As the fragrance unfolds, the suede surprises with its slightly rough notes. This is truly impressive! Jo Malone fragrances have always been clear and simple for me, but here I noticed some kind of development. Now this fragrance is associated for me not with peonies, but specifically with suede 😲

From the very beginning, you get this silly suede, right in your face. It seems like it wasn't like this with this perfume before. It's made well, of course, and looks beautiful, but this feeling. You don't even need a miniature, but at least 30 ml, so you don't have to bother with this nonsense

This fragrance is indeed one of the brand's most popular, and it's no accident. It's very feminine, floral, with a bright peony note at its heart. The apple adds juiciness and intrigue. But don't expect an explosion of floral and fruity notes from it. There's more softness and delicacy here. I confidently recommend it, even if you decide to buy it blind

This smell reminds me of old, worn leather with a sour apple. Unpleasant and strange, it only causes irritation. It certainly doesn't add confidence, quite the opposite, you want to run far away. For a windy spring - I don't know who this could suit ))

The scent is truly delightful! First, bright fruits are felt, then delicate peony and velvety suede - everything is in place. There's a slight tartness, probably from an apple. I would definitely buy the miniature

The scent, honestly, isn't impressive. In this kind of weather, it smells too intrusive and heavy. Peony and rose, yes, but it all feels somehow too cloying and unnatural. In the end, only an unpleasant aftertaste remains, which isn't pleasing 😒

The scent is really beautiful, but on my skin, it develops too sweetly, and the peony is very prominent. Unfortunately, it doesn't last longer than two hours, and the sweetness in the base was still noticeable for about three more. Overall, it didn't make much of an impression

This fragrance evokes nostalgia, it's so feminine and delicate. Floral notes intertwine with a light sweetness of fruits, and a suede accent adds depth. It feels like something important is slipping away, and this feeling of sadness doesn't leave 🌸

The scent is certainly feminine, but on me, it reminds me more of peonies, and there's no hint of rose. In spring, when it's warm, it feels more or less normal. But I agree about the miniature, I definitely wouldn't buy a full-size bottle - it's just too simple, you know
