Jo Malone Rain & Angelica: the scent of London rain

Launched in 2014, Jo Malone Rain & Angelica is a refreshing eau de cologne that captures the essence of a cool London downpour.

This fragrance is part of the iconic London Rain collection, where each bottle tells a story of urban atmosphere and natural elegance.

English perfumery legend Jo Malone London has continued to surprise with its innovative approach, reshaping ideas of modern perfumery since the early 1990s.

Who it is for and how to wear it: versatile freshness

As a unisex fragrance, Rain & Angelica suits all genders, offering a moderate sillage that is noticeable without being overwhelming.

Its eau de cologne concentration makes it ideal for everyday wear, especially during spring and summer, when you crave lightness and coolness.

It pairs beautifully with casual looks and is well suited to the office, meeting friends, or strolling through the city, evoking the freshness of the air after rain.

Jo Malone inspiration and heritage

The fragrance belongs to the fougère and aquatic families, underscoring its fresh, airy character.

Although there is no information about the specific perfumer, this release demonstrates the brand's commitment to quality and innovation, reinforcing its reputation as a pioneer in the world of niche perfumery.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Rain & Angelica is built on a harmonious blend of angelica, which lends a green, slightly spicy opening, and a vibrant burst of lime, adding citrus freshness.

Rainwater brings a mineral coolness and an aquatic accent, evoking the sensation of damp air, while vetiver provides a lasting woody base reminiscent of wet earth after a downpour.

This composition, belonging to the green and woody fragrance families, unfolds smoothly from its initial greenery to deep woodiness, offering a multifaceted olfactory experience that perfectly captures the concept of London rain.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth

The scent reminds me of dampness and humid air, as if I've stepped into a rainy day. I probably haven't encountered such a plausible interpretation anywhere else. I like it, but only for myself, not for going out 🌧️

Once, I forgot that this perfume wasn't for me and bought a whole bottle during a huge sale. But alas, I couldn't wear it, had to sell it. It's not just rain, it's a real hurricane that uproots trees and mixes dirt with greenery. It stinks so badly, it's just awful, there's no calm in it 😤

At first, I thought Jo Malone wasn't for me, but it seems I just started with the wrong fragrances. This perfume can be described as "damp", but unfortunately, it didn't become my friend 😕

I couldn't figure out this scent. My decant is already with its third owner. For me, rain should smell different. This one reminds me of some kind of dampness with cloying sweetness, which doesn't please my nose at all
