Description of the composition

The olfactory structure of Garden Lilies evolves as a layered story, where layers reveal themselves without rush and without gaps. The style of Jo Malone is clear from the opening to the final trail. No excess details, only what works, and the composition keeps a clear direction. Eau de Cologne supports the depth and body this composition needs.

When the structure is mixed the fragrance opens as a single chord with a pure botanical mood: Green Chord, Musk, Vanilla, Water Lily and ylang-ylang. Here 5 notes sound as one coherent layer, forming natural freshness that keeps the opening compact and balanced.

The inner phases are read as a gradual shift without abrupt breaks, which preserves the scent identity through drydown.

The accord architecture is built around these accords: Floral, Musc and Spicy without random overlap. The gender direction is unisex, which sharpens how the fragrance is perceived.

At olfactory-group level the composition is built around Green, Musk, Gourmet and Floral. It also reaches into Whiteflower and Earthy / Mossy.

Overall Garden Lilies sounds complete from start to finish — the start forms character, the central phase adds depth, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. This is the type of composition best understood on skin.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The fragrance is indeed very delicate. You can feel the freshness of greens in it, as well as the lightness of watery flowers and musk. I didn't notice vanilla or ylang-ylang here. This perfume is like a cloud, it's so transparent and airy )

A completely empty nothing that just makes you wonder: "what's the point of this?" Not to say the whole collection is full of masterpieces, but this one definitely doesn't stand out. It's kinda sad to know such fragrances exist!!
